Building the basement stairs with Fred

The last two nights Fred has been helping with building the basement stairs. We'll probably finish tomorrow.

The cement trucks came this morning and they poured our cement floor.

The Evidence

This morning I took pictures of some of the snow, hay and wood scraps that were cleaned from the basement last night. Sadly, there is still a lot to go. Tomorrow, we'll try using some extra heaters to heat up the basement more.

Shoveling the basement...

Tyler, Isaac, and J. David came over to help us shovel snow, ice and hay out of the basement. A lot was accomplished, but we did not finish tonight.

Defrosting the basement...

Yesterday we got the LP gas tank connected to the furnace and turned on the heat. Everything worked fine. We left the furnace running and opened up ducts in the basment so that it will warm up enough that we can have the basement floor poured. This morning I went out early to check on the furnace and make sure we still had a house.

As you can see, there is plenty of snow and straw still in the basement.
